Forward thinking and innovative design: Edwin jeans
Edwin jeans have a history that is rather different from the traditional jeans manufacturers. The brand's story is very different to its counterparts...
Jeans started as functional workwear in the United States, making good use of this tough fabric. As time went on, it became clear that jeans work as fashion clothing too. In Japan, this notion was taking hold too, but with few dedicated denim factories the fabric was costly. This made the product of jeans even more of a luxury but Edwin founder, Mr Tsumeni, had an idea.
Instead of using the expensive and often poorer quality denim, the only alternative to the American equivalent, Mr Tsumeni had the revolutionary idea of recycling. Born out of a desire to create affordable fashion clothing, Edwin jeans were created from the tough denim of old jeans. The result? Fresh, new designs and quality construction.
This tradition continues to this day, as Edwin jeans constantly evolves and sets the trend. The brand reflects a love for denim. Looks such as the 'old wash' Edwin introduced in the 1970's replicated the pure, natural look of denim. Then, during the 80's, the brand introduced the stone washing process, which dictated the look of a whole era.
