Initially more a labour of love than a commercial enterprise, Evisu has remained true to its core values. The mission was to create the highest quality jeans with each pair lovingly hand painted with the famous seagull logo and to pay close attention to every detail. Originally only 14 pairs were produced each day but the jeans soon became icons of the fashion world.
The company was founded in 1991 in Osaka, Japan and was named after the Japanese god of prosperity, Ebisu. The jeans are fashioned from Japanese selvedge denim and sparked the revival in the vintage denim look. The emphasis remains on craftsmanship, quality and those all important details which make Evisu jeans unique.
Raw denim is a different animal to treated denim and should be worn for at least six months before washing. This will give your jeans sharper fades and will create whiskering, creases and other signs of wear that are unique to you. If you do wish to soften the denim a little then wash the jeans in cold water before you wear them.
Do be aware that raw denim will shrink between 1% and 4% when it is first washed and that before washing, the colour will transfer relatively easily onto lighter fabrics and other materials. You may have seen the stories about white iPhone casings turning blue! You can read more about raw denim on our blog. We are proud to feature Evisu clothing in the Jean Store collection and currently bring you slim and regular fit jeans for men and also sports pants.
Evisu started as a small scale enterprise but they were doing something innovative which really got them noticed. Now Evisu jeans are must have fashion statements that would enhance any wardrobe. You really must give them a try if you are yet to discover the unique qualities of this impressive collection.
