Named after the date of its creation, 1st April, 1961, our 1461 shoe has become iconic. Originally sold as a durable working man’s shoe, in the 70s and 80s the style became popular with political protesters, and as a fashion item at universities across Britain. Today it’s worn as a symbol of rebellious self-expression by individuals from all walks of life.
This 1461 shoe stays true to the original and features a hardwearing Smooth leather upper, classic 3-eye fastening and Dr. Martens yellow welt stitch; finished with our ultra comfortable AirWair technology and slip-resistant sole.
Airwairs original signature leather: a firm, finished leather with a smooth, semi bright appearance.
[Smooth] = Clean Away dirt using a damp cloth, allow to dry apply correct coloured wax based shoe polish to restore shine as desired.
This is a Goodyear-welted product. The upper and sole are heat-sealed and sewn together, not merely glued like many footwear constructions.
